Children rely on us setting boundaries around their behaviour to give them a sense of security and safety. When we argue in front of them or where they can at least hear, we damage that safety and negativity model yelling and arguing as a means of getting ones own way.

Provided there is no immediate need to protect your child from harm, you are far better off saying, ‘do what your mum – or dad – says now,’ even if you disagree with what your partn...
